The congress subtheme “Making it sustainable” embraces a comprehensive approach to healthcare delivery, emphasising the strategic and sustainable use of resources and the development of innovative health solutions within the pharmacy profession. ​​

This focus area addresses key global health challenges, including ensuring supply chain efficiency, combatting antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and advancing continuous professional development. Such initiatives are crucial for enhancing the resilience and adaptability of health systems worldwide. This congress subtheme also prioritises preventive care and broadening access to essential medicines, reinforcing the pharmacy profession’s capability to make a significant impact on global health outcomes. Digital health innovations play a vital role in this strategy in making healthcare sustainable.

Furthermore, this congress subtheme advocates the formulation of robust policy and regulatory frameworks that facilitate advancements. This subtheme explores how integrated care, patient safety, and innovations like telepharmacy and artificial intelligence enhance healthcare delivery. It highlights the strategic importance of pharmacoeconomics and the involvement of pharmacists in healthcare policy development to optimise outcomes and cost-efficiency. This involvement includes advocating pharmacy regulations that minimise barriers and streamline bureaucracy, enabling the profession to contribute more effectively to healthcare systems. ​

This congress subtheme advocates for robust collaboration between healthcare providers. It stresses the necessity of shared electronic health records and integrated care models to manage vaccinations, provide care for chronic diseases, and expand pharmacy services.
